This fall the AT Teaching Center and the Graduate School will once again conduct TA Orientation followed by our TA Development Workshop series. The two-day orientation for teaching assistants begins August 17th and is required for all new TA’s. The series of approximately 20 professional development workshops – taught by professors from various UF departments – will help all teaching assistants improve their teaching skills.

We offer two workshop strands, one focused on using technology in the classroom and one focused on best pedagogical practices. The technology strand includes topics such as creating e-Learning classes, using PowerPoint, and matching learning objectives with the best technological tools to facilitate those objectives. The pedagogy strand includes topics such as leading discussions, planning your lectures, and dealing with troubled and disruptive students.

TA’s who attend a required number of workshops in either strand are awarded certificates. The workshops take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:00 p.m.throughout fall semester. To register, or for more information, visit the Teaching Center and click on “TA Development”.
