Streaming Rich Media Using MediaSite

An improved method of distributing streaming video presentations on the web is now available. By using the MediaSite system, we are now able to provide Rich Media presentations that combine regular Windows Media streaming video with high-resolution graphics captured directly from a computer. This allows the viewer to hear and see a presenter in a video window while viewing presentation slides or captured computer screens in an adjacent window. The media can be viewed in real-time or later from a stored presentation. MediaSite allows the viewer to watch the presented content continuously or skip ahead to specific topics by selecting slides from the thumbnail gallery.

The MediaSite server will be hosting Rich Media presentations for large format courses such as STA2023 and MAC1147 this fall to provide students with archived, on-demand copies of their lectures. Recording services are available in our classroom located in Norman Hall. Recordings can also be requested to be on-location, based on availability.
